... was born in St Pancras, London, has been noted as a Musical Instrument Maker including banjos but details of his activities and/or his instruments have not been discovered.
Following his death his eldest daughter Matilda Bromley b 1855 continued in the business as a Musical Instrument Dealer.
The pictures show a banjo marked Bromley which was subsequently found to be made by Matthew. It could be concluded that following her fathers death Matilday bought in banjos from Matthew to continue the business her father had established.
